I first joined the Masters Program as a Mechanical Engineer but soon realized that Systems Engineering had a better Controls program. Additionally, I was interested in some of the finance-related courses in this department and hence I made the switch. The overall experience I gained from this program extends well beyond the courses I took. I got the chance to get to know a lot of international students and understand their perspectives and culture and make a lot of new friends.

Controls: Nonlinear and adaptive control, state space controls and linear control theory
Finance: ML for finance, High Frequency Trading, Personal finance
Others: Algorithms for Data Analytics, Engineering Design Optimization, Autonomous systems and robotics

It’s not in every life that you get a chance to pursue a degree in the best ranked institute in the nation for 6 consecutive years. Collaborating and learning from the best in the nation certainly helped me hone my skills and knowledge. I got the chance to interact with some of the best professors in the world and their perspectives on research and education. During this stint, I did research, participated in student-led projects, volunteered in many NGOs, and captained a sports team.

Online Courses have always been a great way for me to get my curiosity satisfied when I'm not actively in academics. In my opinion, online courses are very useful in the sense that we get to select courses that have great lecturers, and they are usually well structured, however, I would always prefer in-person courses because of the level of interaction they promote.
